Biography:
Mr. Jones serves as the Director of the Institute for Systems Engineering Research (ISER) and previously served as the Chief of the Mobility Systems Branch, Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory, US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) where he lead a moderate-sized work force of 35 research, technical, and administrative employees and managed an annual research program budget of $10-15 million. He has over 30 years of experience conducting research in the field of vehicle mobility systems, proposed, planned, executed, and lead field, laboratory and highly complex modeling efforts for R&D programs. The program goals were to produce comprehensive R&D products at the applied level to advance the knowledge of vehicle mobility performance for mission analysis and systems engineering processes used for vehicle design and acquisition.

As the MSU ISER Director, Randy has been responsible for the initial implementation of the ISER as a charter partnership with the ERDC, and for hiring and integrating the MSU ISER research team into the ERDC research environment. He has developed research projects with the ERDC, the MSU Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS), CAVS Extension, and engineering departments within the Bagley College of Engineering.

Randy has a B.S. in civil engineering from Mississippi State University and a M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa.
